The elephant is a wise animal. It is attentive to its own and the herd's needs. It does not waste its energy on unimportant things like status and does not worry about social media. It simply does not have time, it has to survive.

Sometimes, we humans appear to be the opposite of elephants. We live for the approval of social media withregards to our experiences and spend time on self-critical thoughts that consume our energy while life passes us by without us noticing.

How do you stop a racing thought? How do you stop a feeling that has gone out of control?

You don't do it by chasing quick solutions. You do it by hitting the brakes and daring to stop and take stock of what is important, less important, and totally unimportant.

One of the most effective ways to rebalance your mind, feelings, and body is by doing exercises that increase your awareness of your body.

In these kinds of exercises, the focus naturally lies on the present moment because the body cannot be in the past or the future. By focusing your attention on your body, the racing thoughts calm down and the feelings settle down so that you can make the wise choices needed to move your everyday life in a healthier direction.

EXERCISE,  CALM DOWN- EYE COMPASS

The eye compass is a good exercise to calm down, you can find it as a guided and illustrated exercise in my book Regaining Balance, the Swedish Healthcare Method to Reduce Stress, Anxiety and Pain",  in the section on sleep. In the exercise, you move your eyes in synch with your breathing, making it easier to fall asleep and even to fall back asleep when you wake up in the middle of the night and your thoughts have started to race.

The exercise is also nice to do if you have been sitting in front of the computer for a long time and your eyes feel tired.
