3 simple and effective tips for finding a better balance

It's easy to be gripped by panic in a time when uncertainty is spreading like wildfire around the world. Apprehensive fear and the real danger become interwoven leading to a preoccupation with frightening scenarios.

I want to share 3 useful tips that you can use to help regain balance

  1. Limit your news intake to once a day.

  1. Set aside 15 minutes per day for rumination. Try to shift your focus to doing something practical, preferably some form of physical activity, during the rest of the time. When you move your body, you strengthen the brain's ability to resist stress.

  1. Do the exercise below, which activates your postural muscles, helps you to regain your footing, and has a strong stabilizing effect on both your thoughts, feelings, and body.

EXERCISE

Starting Position:

Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Now, place one hand on each hip bone – as if you are showing that you are very determined and serious.

Press down with both hands straight towards the floor.

Maintain the same static pressure while you slowly count to ten.

Then gradually release the pressure. Repeat three times each time and repeat the entire exercise as often as you need it.

You can find more stabilizing and stress-reducing exercises in my book, “Regaining Balance, the Swedish Healthcare Method to Reduce Stress, Anxiety and Pain".
